Hawaii, the Big Island
The Big Island contains most of the magical wonders of our world. Volcanic activity, snow-topped mountains, rain forests, incredible beaches and fantastic craft beer and coffee. (What? I'm pretty sure those count as magical wonders, too). I came here to strengthen my underwater photography skills and to become a certified free diver. I also became certifiably besotted with Hawaii.
Here's a typical day for me on the Big Island:
5:30 - the smell of Kona coffee waltzes through the apartment...
6:30 - depart for the coastline (after consuming said Kona coffee).
7:30 - 3:00 - freedive in crystal clear, reef-bottom water with an abundance of sea life (turtles, dolphins, reef sharks, tropical fish). Only surface to change camera batteries. Spear a fish or two for dinner.
4:00 - nap time.
5:00 - hit the local brewery, Kona Brewing Co., to sample their 'brew of the day'. Continue sampling...
9:00 - sleep.
